Wernick Hire Ltd acquires Rawley Plant Ltd

The Hire Exchange are delighted to announce the acquisition of Rawley Plant Ltd by Wernick Hire Ltd, a member of the Wernick Group, Britain’s largest independent manufacturer and hirer of portable and modular accommodation.

Rawley Plant is based in Basildon Essex and was founded in 1961 by father and son Jim and Colin Rawley with Colin’s son Howard joining in 1991. In 2003 the family business focussed on welfare hire and since then has grown into a highly successful, specialist supplier of portable accommodation, welfare units and toilet hire, principally for the construction sector but also commercial /civil engineering, rail and events.

Said David Wernick, “Rawley Plant is an important acquisition for us. They have built an excellent reputation for quality and service and as a family business, they share our values and our culture, the ‘fit’ is ideal.  We are grateful to The Hire Exchange for bringing our companies together.”

Howard Rawley, commented “Selling the business after more than 60 years trading was a huge decision and from the outset Dad and I were determined to find the right buyer. While we had a lot of interest and offers, it was clear that Wernick were the right people to drive the business forward”

Chris Harvey, co-founder of the Hire Exchange said “This is our second completed deal in the last two months and is proof that the market for good businesses is strong. Strategic Fit remains the key driver along with the security of a strong and consistent EBITDA underpinned by the security of the value of fleet assets.”
